Quick trip to Charleston

I was able to go to Charleston at the end of March for a fast and furious trip. Here are some highlights:

Hayden and Austin loved taking turns wearing my cowboy boots!

I was able to be there for my sister, Aimee’s, bridal portraits. Here are some of the gorgeous places we went, but of course I can’t reveal any of her which are even more gorgeous!

I had forgotten how much I missed green grass, oak trees, azaleas, and palm trees (but of course I miss our family and friends more although that is a given).

The day after the bridal portraits, we headed to a bridal shower for Aimee given by her friend Maribeth (who was 35 weeks pregnant1). Of course Hayden enjoyed helping Aimee open presents.

All the girls in the family- me, Aimee, Mom, Melissa, and Hayden

Some of my dearest friends met me for dinner one night in Charleston, but I am sad to say that we didn’t get a picture! Girls, we have to do better next time!

Hiking

The weather has been so beautiful here in Colorado Springs (60-70s). We recently went hiking at Red Rock Canyon with our friends- Chris and Katie. They are both dental residents with the army at Fort Carson. They are going to be stationed in Hawaii for the next couple years, which means we will need to take a trip to Hawaii!!

Vail

Last weekend we were able to rent a house with some friends in Vail. Here are some pictures of our time.

We have been so lucky to live so close to awesome ski resorts. This year we have gotten to ski at Winter Park, Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs and Vail. The ski season may be over because we had a bout of warm weather this week, but we enjoyed the times we had skiing.

Ben and some of his co-residents enjoyed a game night.

Painting

I have been wanting to go to a paint studio for a long time. We finally had the chance when the Air Force Medical Group decided to make it an event. Ben was a bit skeptical about going, but he is so creative and artistic that he did great!

I love Ben's version of Van Gogh's Starry Night

What we've been doing lately

LOTS of skiing! We are trying to take full advantage of being within hours of the best ski resorts in Colorado.
Here is Ben with some of his co-residents and his residency director in the red.

Ben has been loving skiing so much; he literally wants to go every free minute we have (okay, only if we have hours).

This is what I feel like when we are carrying all our equipment ...

Gorgeous views!
